Process automation in SAP, Web and legacy systems
A repetitive task is not expensive because of the time it takes. It is expensive because of the error it produces when someone does it for the fortieth time on a closing day. Automating means removing human variation where it adds no judgment.
Where traditional automation breaks
RPA that depends on screen coordinates ages badly in a corporate environment, and corporate environments change all the time.
The layout changes, the bot breaks
Automation tied to a field’s position on the screen does not survive a patch, an upgrade or another team’s customization.
Maintenance eats the gain
When every system change requires reprogramming the flow, the cost of maintaining competes with the cost of operating manually.
There is no trail of who did what
Without a log per step, a divergent execution becomes a manual investigation, and the audit cannot reconstruct what happened.
How it works
The flow is modeled on the transaction, not on the screen.
Process mapping
Survey of the transaction, the real variants and the exceptions the operation already knows. Whatever is not a rule becomes a declared exception, not a surprise in production.
Flow construction
The bot is built on the transaction and its parameters. Where the interface is unavoidable, identification uses a semantic anchor instead of a coordinate.
Acceptance testing with operations
Execution in a staging environment with the scenarios the business area considers critical, including the ones that tend to fail.
Production with an auditable log
Every execution records start, end, parameters and result. A divergence produces a record, not silence.
Where we work
The modules and environments that appear most often in projects.
| Environment | Examples | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| SAP GUI (Win32) | ECC and S/4 in classic transactions | Basis of most projects |
| SAP Fiori | S/4 web applications | Automation on the web layer |
| SAP MM and SD | ME21N, orders and procurement cycle | Supply chain |
| SAP FI | FBL3N, reconciliation and close | Finance and tax |
| SAP PM and PP | IW31, CO01, orders | Maintenance and production |
| Tax | J1B1N, invoices | Brazilian tax documents |
| Web and legacy | Portals, proprietary systems, terminal | Where no API is available |

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between RPA and RTA?
RPA automates the business process in production: the bot does the work. RTA automates the testing of that process: the bot checks that the system still behaves as expected, typically in regression before a go-live or upgrade.
How long does it take to automate a process?
It depends on the number of variants and real exceptions, not on the size of the screen. A process with a single flow and few exceptions is quick; one with many variants needs mapping before a single line is written.
What if the system changes later?
Change is expected. That is why the flow is modeled on the transaction and monitored through telemetry: degradation shows up as more outliers before it becomes a stoppage.
